Plaster, burlap, mesh, dye, and wood

Organically dispersed greens and blues like bruised fluids stain two shell like forms cast off an existing sculpture. Bare wooden supports function like stilts that raise the interlocking forms off the ground. This sculpture is a result of responding to my experimentation with dye in plaster. Beginning with abstract elements, I find components that articulate tension. In this piece I responded to the raised folds between the depressions in the forms by creating corresponding wood supports that hold the sculpture up like crutches tucked in the underarms. In my process I find ways to express emotion by juxtaposing materials to imply an animate presence.
