Unease of Mending

“Unease of Mending”

2017- 2021

50 x 16 x 9 inches each (installation varies)

paper clay, foam, wire mesh, steel, and zip ties

Reminiscent of an old cast iron radiator, the anthropomorphic and rib like forms stand on 12 sinuous legs. The mesh stretched over tops of curved ribs suggests filtering or protecting. Pale blue and yellowed, one of the two is visibly broken and supported by a metal armature, while the other is without a visible brace. The two exemplify the relationship between repair of artworks, precious objects, our bodies, and relationships.
